Programme
Structure and Requirements for NUS students
The
programme requires:
NUS
students take
modules worth a total of 32 NUS MCs for the Environmental
Biology Minor, earning 12 MCs at NUS and 20 MCs at UofT.
The minor is open to all NUS students satisfying the following
requirements (i.e., the minor is not restricted to Life Science
students).
Requirements
-
A-levels in Biology or good pass of
LSM1301 General Biology
-
Successful application to
the Joint Minor Program upon completion of the NUS course requirements
for the minor (LSM1103, LSM3251 or LSM2251,
LSM3252). The application deadline is toward the end of semester
2 of each academic year. Students who are completing the NUS
requirements in this semester are eligible to apply
-
The minor is a two-way
exchange programme offered by the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary
Biology (UofT) and the Department of Biological Sciences (NUS).
The capstone module for NUS students at UofT is ENV234Y Environmental
Biology. To be awarded the joint minor in Environmental Biology,
NUS students are required to read and pass the modules prescribed
in Table 1.

by NUS students for joint minor in
Environmental Biology
- LSM1103 Biodiversity (NUS)
- LSM3251 Ecology
and Environmental Processes (NUS) or LSM2251
Ecology and Environment
- LSM3252 Evolution
and Comparative Genomics (NUS)
- ENV234Y Environmental
Biology (UofT)
- ENV336 Ecology in
Human-Dominated Environments (UofT)
and
any 2 of the following courses from the list of electives:
- EEB319H Population Ecology (UofT)
- EEB321H Community Ecology (UofT)
- EEB323H Evolutionary Genetics (UofT)
- EEB328H Physiological Ecology (UofT)
- EEB362H Introduction to Macroevolution
(UofT)

Life
Science students:
Up to three LSM modules (12MC) are shared between your major
and the joint minor, but only 8 MCs can be double-counted;
i.e., you either have to either take an additional NUS 3000-level
LSM module or three of the five UofT modules from the list
of electives (see table 1).
