The Faculty of Science, National University of Singapore (NUS), is now accepting applications for our inaugural two-week Global Science Summer Programme in Forensic Science 2018, held from 16 - 27 July 2018.
OUR programme is a perfect opportunity to broaden your academic and cultural horizons.You will gain new skills and ideas, immerse yourself in new surroundings, and expand your international perspective.
Social and cultural programme We blend educational rigour with diverse opportunities for fun and leisure. You will have a choice of social excursions, to experience the fascinating culture, cuisine and sights of Singapore’s multi-cultural society.

The programme comprises tailor-made, small-class lectures and practicals, such as case studies and real-world projects, on a cutting-edge scientific topic. opportunities for fun and leisure.

Participants will earn academic credits and receive a certificate of participation and transcript at the end of the programme.
All current students registered at another university world-wide are eligible to apply. There is no pre-requisite for the courses. However, as all courses will be taught and assessed in English, students should have a good command of English language. Students whose first language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency.

Res Ipsa Loquitur (‘let the thing speak for itself’)

Students will delve into the fascinating world of forensic evidence from crime scene to court, and how objective evidence can convict the guilty as well as exonerate the innocent. The courses will touch on court case studies of crime and death investigation, and discuss the scientific value of past court cases.

Prof Stella Tan received an M.Sc. in Cell and Molecular Biology and a Law degree from NUS, and an M.Sc. in Forensic Science from the University of New Haven. In 2008, she started NUS’ Forensic Science Minor, the first and only programme of its kind in Singapore and Asia. She has served as the Deputy Director, Senior Deputy Public Prosecutor, Deputy Senior State Counsel in the Attorney-General’s Chambers, where she prosecuted many landmark cases. She was also the Director of Prosecution and Legal Policy at the Health Sciences Authority. She is the Deputy Chairperson representing Singapore at the International Standards Organisation for Forensic Sciences. In 2017, she was appointed Associate Professor in Practice in the Faculty of Science.
