Joint
OLS Immunology and Structural Biology and Proteomics
Inter-Programmatic
Research Meeting
A joint OLS
Immunology and Structural Biology and Proteomics Inter-Programmatic
Research Meeting was held on the 25th of February 2008 at the
Department of Biological Sciences Conference Room. The objective
of the meeting was to enable investigators from both programmes to
explore 'outside their box' and seek synergism between the experties
within both programmes. The latest as well as key techniques
available and scientific problems in both programmes were highlighted
and this lead to good discussions that allowed much cross fertilization
of experties and ideas. The turnout was exceptionally good with
more than 50 attendees (students, investigators and staff from
both programmes, as well as other interested individuals) throughout
the meeting. Many interesting ideas and potential projects have
been seeded and follow-up between individual groups are likely
to follow. The meeting was exceptionally interesting particularly
with the participation of our colleagues from the Department
of Physics who shared with us many possibilities within the realm
of biophysics and how such studies could give very novel insights
to biological problems. The spirit of open sharing was evident
as each participant presented their thoughts, ideas and capabilities
with the intention of bring advances to science.
