The Department of Biological Sciences (DBS) signed an MOU with the College of Life Science and Technology of Guangxi University on 6 April 2006 at the Faculty of Science Dean's meeting room.
An 8-member delegation consists of 2 reps each from Guangxi's provincial education department, Guangxi University, Guangxi Normal University and Guangxi Nationalities University visited NUS to sign the MOU. Guangxi University's signatory was Dr. Chen Haiyen, Director of International Relations of Guangxi University and witnessed by Prof. Huang Weiyi, Vice-President of Guangxi University. From NUS, the MOU was signed by Assoc. Prof. Ge Ruowen , Deputy Head of Department of Biological Sciences and witnessed by Vice-Provost Prof. Lai Choy Heng.
Guangxi has been long known to host rich resources in biodiversity of fauna and flora as well as being a region of great ethnic diversity. With DBS's strengths in ecology and biodiversity research, as well as capabilities and interests in genomic research and human diseases and cure, it is hoped that the MOU would promote collaborations and exchanges between our two universities. |
