Graduate Researcher Award 2006 - Mahesh Uttamchandani, a Graduate Student under the supervision of A/P Yao Shao Qin since August 2004, is pursuing his Ph.D. and develops novel methodologies for rapid enzyme profiling. A Defence Science & Technology Agency Scholar, he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology with First Class Honours (Vice-Chancellor's List) in 2004. Mahesh is also a receipient of the President Graduate Fellowship (2005-2007) and was awarded the NUS Student Achievement Award in 2006. His team also emerged champions at the recent Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition. He has authored and co-authored 24 publications, including 22 peer-reviewed articles in international scientific journals and 2 book chapters |

26 Malaysian teachers attended the First Biology Training Workshop for Malaysian Chinese High School Teachers, 3-6 July 2006. The workshop covered topics on molecular biology, plant molecular biology, gene therapy, biodiversity, bioinformatics and proteomics. It was a great success.
