Enhancement of Coral Recruitment on settlement plates
manufactured from natural coral rubble and to and
test its feasibility on the recovery of damaged reefs.
The aim of the study is to:
1-Determine the suitability of coral rubble to enhance coral recruitment
on coral reefs and/or controlled environments (laboratory).
2-Evaluate the effects of nursery protection on the survival and growth
of P. damicornis recruits during their first stages of development.
3-Determine the minimum time required of nursery protection to improve
chances of survival of corals that were born in the lab, before they are
taken to the reefs.
4-Assess the variety of organisms recruited on the plates deployed on the
reefs of four Islands of Singapore (P. Hantu, Raffles Lighthouse, Sister's
and St. John's), during one year long.
Provide a locally avaiable low-tech technique to enhance coral recruitment.
