My degree:
BSc (Hons) 2nd upper from National University of Singapore, 2000, with a major in Animal Biology
Research interests:
Did my honours thesis on the effect of increased sediment load on the photosynthesis of the mushroom coral Fungia scabra in a tank system.
Will be doing a project on artificial reefs off the southern islands of Singapore.
Research interest areas are the impact of human activities on natural environments, conservation biology and management of coastal areas.
Current project :
Sustaining reef biodiversity in the Southern Islands, using Reef Enhancing Units, to promote coastal tourism.
Activities :
Co-led the Koh Kong Marine Conservation expedition to Cambodia (March 18- 1 April 2001) to assess the reefs in the Koh Sdach group of islands and their potential for ecotourism.
Otherwise, in whatever
free time exists, I also do aikido, trekking, biking (on and off road)
and various other outdoor activities.
