I completed my doctoral dissertation on the systematic revision of the marine crab family Parthenopidae (elbow crabs) in 2004. I now work at the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research where I am the curator of Crustacea, managing editor of the Raffles Bulletin of Zoology, and special projects manager. I am also concurrently appointed as an Instructor at the Department of Biological Science in the National University of Singapore, where I teach general biology (LSM1301). Besides my routine curatorial and editorial duties, I sometimes have to risk life and limb to perform EIA assignments and participate in expeditions like the MUSORSTOM expeditions to the Philippines (PANGLAO 2004 and PANGLAO 2005) and Vanuatu (SANTO 2006). I grow plants as a hobby and specialize in carnivorous plants, but I am currently crazy over African violets, Episcia and Begonias. Somehow, I still manage to find time to harass Rhizophora propagules at Pulau Semakau.
