S'pore's first coral nursery blooms a year after it
was started
The coral nursery, a project led by NUS Professor Chou Loke
Ming from Dept of Biological Sciences one year ago, is making
good progress. The project is supported by the National Parks
Board and Keppel Group.

Dinosaur exhibit stomps into Singapore

A docuemtary series. This episode features research led by Assoc Prof Lim Tit Meng (Biological Sciences) and Dr Heng Chew Kiat (Paediatrics). Their team, working with the Institute of Microelectronics, has developed Singapore's first portable chip-based DNA extraction and amplification system. A new ambulance stretcher design by NUS School of Design and Environment student, Tan Wee Kiat, was also featured. |

A documentary series. This episode features:
- Research led by Professor Gong Zhiyuan (Biological Sciences) on genetically-engineered zebra fish which can detect water pollutants by changing colour; as well as Professor Gong's research on creating zebra fish that produce Hepatitis B antigen in their muscles.
- Research led by Professor Victor Shim (Mechanical & Production Engineering) on the drop tester. This NUS invention is a guillotine-like machine which can test the impact of handphones falling at the speed of up to six metres a second or equivalent to what happens when a user drops a phone
- Research on the Electrospinning Machine for Nanofibres by Engineering PhD research student, Mr Ryuji Inai . He won the Gold Award for the 4 th Young Inventors Award for the invention of this machine. His research looks into a new way to grow human tissue over large areas.
