IPS2021

12th General Meeting of the International Proteolysis Society

Highly-regulated proteolysis plays important roles in various physiological and pathological processes. The proteolytic cleavage acts as an irreversible trigger and forms a committed step in the process. Thus, proteases and their regulatory cofactors and inhibitors are responsible for homeostatic protein degradation and protein quality control, regulated cell death, intercellular or intracellular signaling events, developmental biology, microbial and viral replication, host-pathogen interactions, immunity and many other processes. Alteration in proteolysis leads to various diseases. Thus, understanding of proteases and their regulatory mechanisms help in developing strategies in resolving these diseases through diagnostic, prophylactic and therapeutic interventions.
