Virology, Aquatic Viruses and Viral Diseases, Shrimp White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV), Fish Iridoviruses, SGIV
We are generally interested in aquatic viruses and viral diseases, while focus on two large DNA viruses: white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) and Singapore grouper iridovirus (SGIV). Using a high-throughput proteomics approach, we are able to analyze the viral and host cellular proteins. Through X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy and cryo-electron microscopy, we are able to solve the structures of both viral proteins and viral particles. The results from our studies will not only assist in the development of novel drugs for WSSV and SGIV but may also serve as a paradigm for understanding viral morphogenesis.
